Mobile clinics has been until 2013 the main MFV method of providing eye care services. Since 2003 teams have been sent to extremely remote regions once or twice a year to carry out refraction, and dispensing glasses as well as funding medical treatments and cataract operations. It is sad to think that our visits will probably be the only opportunity that many of these people will get to receive such help in their life time. For this reason we are now combining these mobile clinics with setting up permanent centres that will provide training in basic primary eye care services to enable these communities to provide for themselves.
